Christ Church and Court of Appeals Ruling

I'm sure I'll have some thoughts to share on this eventually, until then I'm just passing along the info.

Joey

We are sad to report that the Georgia Court of Appeals has upheld the Lower Court decision against Christ Church. Our only option now is to request that the case be heard at the Georgia Supreme Court which we intend to do as the Vestry voted unanimously to do so several weeks ago. Unfortunately, there is no requirement that the Supreme Court hear the case. We will probably know within several weeks if the case will be heard.

Obviously, there are many unanswered questions and to begin to deal with some of these issues we have scheduled two meetings:
1) We will meet for a Parish Forum between the services on Sunday July 11 at approximately 9:15 am in the Church Nave .
2) We will have a Prayer Service on Monday July 12 at 5:30 to 7pm in the Church Nave to pray about our future as a Body.

For those interested in the legal implications of this verdict I have attached a analysis from an Anglican Legal Blog.

Take heart in the fact that we have been faithful to the call we have received and will persevere to the conclusion of this battle. I am reminded of the words of St. Paul:

Romans 12:10-16 (New International Version)

10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.  14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16Live in harmony with one another.
